For her special breakfast you need walnuts chopped up all nice (my husband was assigned the job of chopping these).
And bacon. This was delicious but it was even better when we cooked it a little longer...I like it on the burnt side.
The key is to crumble the bacon up and throw it IN the batter with the walnuts.
Yeah, the first time I was served them years ago I was all...
But seriously...deliciousness!
While I went for a standard drizzle of pure maple syrup on mine, my mother-in-law put me to shame and went all out with her toppings. In case you're wondering, that wondrous pile consists of Greek yogurt, banana, blueberries, and a drizzle of honey. I was already 3 waffles in and unable to fit another bite or I may have had to try her masterpiece.

Bacon in sweet things is something I haven't yet been able to wrap my head around. Whenever we go out for bagels, my brother-in-law gets a maple bacon doughnut, and I just stare at it blankly. :p
